What is Stroly?
Stroly is an online platform that connects illustrated maps with geolocation information and makes them interactive.
What is "Geolocation information", you ask?
It’s the ability to associate real-world locations (like a building, street, an neighborhood) to your current location. You are probably already familiar with Google Maps or Apple maps, which use technology not only tell you where in the world are you at this moment but also help you navigate to your nearest store or find that cool new coffee house your friends keep talking about.
Imagine taking a stroll around the streets of London and being able to find some of the locations described in the Sherlock Holmes novels but also get recommendations for the best bookshops near you. With Stroly, users can upload their own maps, share them, and get suggestions of other maps based on where they are.
How does it work?
Smart-devices now have a GPS chip inside that uses satellite data to calculate their exact position in the world. When you add a map to Stroly, our georeferencing tools help match your map to a set of real geographic coordinates. This makes the map compatible with GPS and satellite data. The map is stored in our Cloud, so you just need to access the map from a device with location services enabled and, literally, put yourself on the map!
